5-year old boy breaks Microsoft’s Xbox One security and gets scared of loosing his favorite gaming machine
5-year old Kristoffer Von Hassel successfully bypassed Microsoft’s Xbox One security, rendering it completely venerable to his desire to continue gaming without restrictions. Kristoffer discovered a way to log into his dad’s account without actually entering the right password, but by filling the wrong credentials once and then filling the second password verification screen with spaces. Immediately after the process, he gained complete access to his dad’s profile.
Kristoffer who was interviewed in a local new station KGTW said: “I was like yea!”
Despite being trilled, the young boy said he later became scared of the outcome, should his dad get to know he logged into his account without permission. He then became very nervous because he” thought someone [Microsoft] would come and steal the Xbox One”. However, that was largely not the case as Kristoffer received four free games, $50 (£30), and a year-long subscription to Xbox Live. He also got his name listed as security researcher on Microsoft website after a report of the security flaw to Microsoft.
Microsoft statement reads:
“We’re always listening to our customers and thank them for bringing issues to our attention.
“We take security seriously at Xbox and fixed the issue as soon as we learned about it.”
Kristoffer’s inclusion in Microsoft’s security research list, makes him one of the youngest persons to earn such prestigious reward.
