iPhone 5S now tops US sales chart after overtaking Samsung Galaxy S4
A recent report from Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Michael Walkley, reveals that the iPhone 5S has been the highest selling Smartphone in the last four months. The iPhone 5C, Apple’s budget smartphone was also reported to dominate sales chart, sitting comfortably amongst the top four selling Smartphone in the US.
Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C debuted in September 2013 and there were fears that the smartphones would have a snail’s sales. A report had earlier claimed that Apple was not pleased with the result of the iPhone 5C, hence evading production of the smartphone. The recent sales report of Apple’s smartphones however shows that the iPhone 5C is indeed well and alive.

T. Michael Walkley believes the wide range of iPhone 5C colors and the low price was the main selling point of the smartphone. He added that, customers were actually looking for an affordable model of iPhone.
Before the iPhone 5C and Iphone 5S was launched in September, Samsung, Apple, Nokia, Sony, HTC and Motorola dominated sales chart of all the major carriers in the US. The recent report pushed the other brands further below including Samsung Galaxy S4 which held the top spot and Apple reclaiming the top position and third spot with the iPhone 5C in most cases.
The strong sales of Apple’s flagship smartphone consequently forced Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Michael Walkley to raise Apple’s 2014 first quarter shipment expectation from 52 million units to 54 million units.
